JAMMU: In the Sub Junior National Taekwondo Championship, which was held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and was organised by the Taekwondo Federation of India under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Poonch Taekwondo Club brought honours home with one silver and one bronze medal. The J&K Taekwondo Association, with sponsorship from the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, sent a team of eighteen boys and girls to compete in the championship. Arohi Dutta of the Poonch Taekwondo Club defeated West Bengal and Punjab, while Mohd Arhaan of Poonch demonstrated exceptional taekwondo abilities by defeating opponents from the States of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.Rajinder Singh, a Taekwondo coach from the Department of Youth Services and Sports Poonch, taught both of these athletes. As both medallists arrived, ADGP Jammu Anand Jain expressed gratitude to them both for representing Jammu and Kashmir UT with pride by winning a national medal. Additionally, he pledged to provide all assistance necessary for the growth of Taekwondo in Poonch, the border district, through their civic action programme. Makhan Lal Sharma, the president of the Poonch District Taekwondo Association, and all of the association’s officers congratulated the victors and their parents on their accomplishment. The medal winners were also acknowledged by Master Atul Pangotra, the International Referee.
