NEW DELHI: According to the health ministry, India saw a daily increase of 760 new cases of Covid and two more deaths from the virus on Thursday. 4,423 cases of the infection are currently active, according to the report. Based on ministry data updated at 8 am, one new fatality each from Kerala and Karnataka were reported in the last 24 hours. Before December 5, the number of cases per day had fallen to double digits; however, with the emergence of a new variant and the cold weather, cases have increased once more. At the height of the pandemic, which started in early 2020 and has resulted in over 4.5 crore infections and over 5.3 lakh deaths in roughly four years nationwide, the daily figures were expressed in lakhs. According to the ministry’s website, over 4.4 crore people have recovered from the illness, meaning that the country’s recovery rate is 98.81 percent. As per the website, the nation has administered 220.67 crore doses of the Covid vaccine so far.
