Jammu, Oct 4: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Jammu conducted a raid at the residence of a retired government official in the Muthi area of Jammu in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities.
Officials said the raid began when a team of ACB Jammu, led by DySP Rakesh Sharma, along with other officials, arrived at the residence of Sumair Singh, son of Waryam Singh. The hosue is located at Chandan Vihar, Muthi, while the family hails originally from Village Pallanwala.
According to sources, the retired officer had served as Head Draftsman in the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department. The search was initiated following credible inputs suggesting possible possession of assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
Officials confirmed that the search operation is being conducted under proper legal authorization and supervision. “The raid is part of an ongoing probe. Relevant documents and property records are being examined,” an officer familiar with the operation said.
During the raid, ACB officials were seen checking property papers, bank details, and other relevant records from the premises. Sources said the Bureau is verifying details of movable and immovable assets accumulated during Singh’s service period and after retirement.
The proceedings, officials added, are aimed at determining whether there has been any misuse of official position or accumulation of wealth beyond lawful means during his tenure in the R&B Department.
