NEW DELHI: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh hosted a reception at his residence in New Delhi for the approximately 225 women scientists from ISRO who led the ISRO’s Republic Day tableau at Kartavya Path. These included the outstanding group of female scientists portrayed in Chandrayaan-3, Aditya L1, and other recent triumphs that have won praise from all throughout the world. Eight women scientists led the ISRO tableau, while 220 invited women scientists and their spouses supported the group. The all-female group originated from different ISRO facilities located in Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Sriharikota, and Thiruvananthapuram.The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s introduction of new space reforms and release of the space industry from historical constraints made this momentous day possible. Singh also serves as the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space. The female scientists expressed their profound sense of pride and privilege at the unprompted cheers they received as the ISRO tableau made its way along the Kartavya Path. They expressed their appreciation for the chance to present their accomplishments to the country and said they were blown away by the friendly welcome they received in the nation’s capital, which let them forget about the chilly winters in Delhi.Dr Jitendra Singh stated that the ISRO “Viksit Bharat Ki Pehchaan” narration began as the ISRO tableau drew closer to the President’s enclosure. The space agency captured the historic moment on August 23 of last year, when its spacecraft Chandrayaan-3 successfully touched down on the moon. India became the first and only nation in history to set foot close to the uncharted lunar south pole as a result of the historic event. The Minister was presented to female scientists and project directors by ISRO Chairman S. Somanath, including Radha Devi of ADRIL, Nigar Shaji, ISRO’s “Sunny Lady,” and other notable women scientists who have made history, such as Kalpana Kalahasti, Reema Ghosh, Ritu Karidhal, and Nidhi Porwal.Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh declared that women will be equal partners in our country’s journey during the Amritkaal and that ISRO’s women scientists will be its torchbearers as we move towards a Viksit Bharat in 2047. India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission last year made history by becoming the fourth nation to successfully land a robotic spacecraft on the moon. Afterwards, it launched India’s first solar mission, the Aditya-L1, with success. These achievements not only strengthened India’s position in the international space economy but also provided impetus for the country’s commercial space industry. India currently has several goals, including the Gaganyaan Mission in 2024–2025, the establishment of ‘Bharatiya Antariksha Station’ by 2035, and the flight of the first Indian astronaut to the moon by 2040.
