UDHAMPUR: At village Surni in tehsil Ramnagar, an unfortunate incident occurred where cattle shed caught fire and was completely destroyed, burning 21 domestic animals to death. According to reports, Yodhu Ram, the son of Lakhu, resident of Surni, owned the animal shed where the fire started on the intervening night of December 19–20. The cattle shed was completely destroyed before the owner and the villagers could put out the fire, killing four cows, four oxen, two calves, and fifteen sheep that were buried beneath the rubble. The local villagers have petitioned the government to compensate the impoverished Yodhu Ram, and the police have filed report and started an investigation into the issue.
