Srinagar, Dec 17: Authorities said on Sunday that a large fire that started in a barrack of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) headquarters at Zewan on the outskirts of Srinagar caused significant property damage. According to fire and emergency services, a large number of tents, bulletproof jackets, helmets, and other items were severely damaged in a major fire incident that started in an ITBP barrack measuring 50 by 200. According to reports, the fire started on Saturday night, and at approximately 7:19 p.m., the fire fighters were dispatched from the neighbouring stations. The flames had to be put out for several hours before they could do significant damage to the barracks.
According to the Fire and Emergency Services official, the ITBP used the items kept in the barrack during the yearly Amarnath Yatra. In a different fire incident that happened early this morning in Dara Harwan, on the outskirts of Srinagar, four cowsheds suffered damage.
