SRINAGAR: The DGP, Dilbag Singh on Monday chaired a high-level security review meeting here, ahead of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.The meeting’s goal was to evaluate the security measures in place for the yearly pilgrimage and make sure it goes off without a hitch. The DGP emphasised the need for additional efforts at the meeting to guarantee an incident-free Yatra. He gave the authorities stern instructions to adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to gather personnel from all wings and districts. Additionally, he gave the officers instructions to make sure that each team leader assigned to the Yatra has a clear understanding of their duties. He also told the cops that they would be given priority and asked them to submit any additional criteria. The DGP emphasised the placement of support teams with the required equipment at base camps and other crucial areas to aid and support the pilgrims.He emphasised the significance of base camp security measures and the development of reliable communication systems. The DGP also emphasised the necessity of orderly traffic control, vehicle parking, and the deployment of forces along the Yatra’s Pahalgam and Baltal routes. The DGP advised the cops to fully utilise contemporary security tools and technology, like as CCTV cameras and drones, to improve security at important Yatra spots and along the route. He emphasised the significance of concentrating on delicate locations like parking lots, langars, and dhabas (roadside eateries).The DGP demanded the creation of specialised helplines to allow for simple communication and support for the Yatris and directed the deployment of quick reaction teams to provide instant aid to the pilgrims. The DGP has since congratulated the 34 officers who were assigned to the non-functional grade, including the JKPS 2012 class. He claimed in a message that the placement order would improve the officers’ morale. He urged the officers to strive harder and more zealously to achieve the J&K Police’s organisational objectives.Additionally, he thanked RK Goyal, LG Manoj Sinha, Advisor (B), RR Bhatnagar, Chief Secretary, J&K, Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Financial Commissioner Home (ACS), and other officials of the UT Government for approving the non-functional (monitoring) scheme in favour of officers of the General Executive Cadre in the time scale of level-11 of the pay matrix.
Additionally, he emphasised the importance of doing protection tasks like installing crash barriers and parapets on the highway’s most crucial sections. He gave the highway officials the order to regularly clean the rubbish that had gathered on the road’s sides in order to widen the carriageway.
According to Dr. Mehta, a traveller should be guaranteed that any delays, if any, won’t last longer than an hour in any situation.
He said that a few substandard kilometres of road should not be used as justification for inadequate traffic management.
In collaboration with the District Administration, he gave the order to increase the number of people managing traffic on key stretches, particularly in the Ramban District.
According to the Chief Secretary, using Mughal Road to reduce traffic on NH-44 is one of the measures that should be taken to ameliorate the traffic situation.In addition to speeding up the development of bridges, tunnels, and viaducts, it was announced that at least 4 truck holding spaces on the national highway are being allocated to make travel on this route comfortable and enjoyable in the months to come.
