BUXAR (BIHAR):An official reported that 21 carriages of the North East Express train derailed close to Raghunathpur station in the Buxar district, resulting in at least four fatalities and about 50 injuries. The 21 carriages of the North East Express train derailed at 21.35 on Wednesday near Raghunathpur station of the Danapur division of the East Central Railway as it travelled from Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi, to Kamakhya in Assam. Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of East Central Railway zone Birendra Kumar stated, “Information has been received from the local district administration that approximately 50 people got injured.”The passengers were saved by neighbourhood residents and district governments, and those who were badly injured were sent to AIIMS Patna. He noted that there are railway personnel on the scene. Meanwhile, the evacuation and rescue efforts have been finished, according to Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. “Rescue and evacuation are over. Each coach was examined. For their subsequent voyage, passengers will shortly be transferred to a special train, according to a post by Vaishnaw on X (formerly Twitter). The Assam Chief Minister’s Office had earlier stated that the regrettable mishap is being actively watched by the government.“The Chief Minister’s Office is closely monitoring the unfortunate derailment of Train Number 12506 in Raghunathpur and is in touch with the district authorities in Buxar and other agencies,” the Assam Chief Minister’s Office stated on X. Just over four months had passed since the terrible quadruple train catastrophe that killed 296 people in Odisha’s Balasore district in June. The Coromandel Express, a cargo train, and the SMVT Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express collided on June 20, 2023. 176 persons need immediate medical attention, 451 had minor injuries, and 180 had severe injuries.
