KUPWARA: In a combined operation with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Indian forces killed two terrorists while thwarting an infiltration attempt in the Machil sector of the Kupwara district, the Army announced in a statement on Saturday night. After the intelligence-based operation, the forces conducted a sweep of the area and found the bodies of the two terrorists. In addition, two AK series rifles and ammo were also found at the scene, according to the Army. The Indian Army, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and several intelligence agencies provided information about infiltration efforts made by a group of 2-4 terrorists in the Macchal sector of Kupwara, according to the release.“On the evening of September 29 and 30, the Indian Army and JKP conducted a joint operation in General Area Gucchi Nar in the Machil Sector. There were numerous ambushes set up in front of the own side of the LOC fence, the statement continued. According to the statement, on September 30 at 10:40 p.m., the ambush party observed two terrorists moving from the Pakistani side and saw them nearing the Line of Control barrier. “The ambush party maintained perfect tactical surprise, and a gunfight was ensured where terrorists attempted to cross the LOC while hiding behind thick vegetation, however the firefight resulted in the instantaneous death of one terrorist. The statement read, “During a search of the area, the bodies of two terrorists were recovered.” According to the statement, additional searches turned up two AK Series rifles, 90 rounds of AK ammo, a pistol, two hand grenades, 2,100 Pakistani rupees in cash, winter clothes, war supplies, and other items. The Army stated in its statement that “the operation is ongoing.”
