Kathua, Sep 27 : Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh of Jammu and Kashmir stated on Wednesday that the department now has 4000 constable openings while a shortage is noticed throughout the entire state as a result of the administration turning over police recruiting to a different agency.“In the past, the police would handle their own recruitment drives. There are 4000 open positions for police constables in the department as a result of the recruitment procedure being transferred to a different organisation. Everywhere throughout J&K, the lack of ranks is evident, said to DGP Singh, who was speaking to reporters outside of a security assessment meeting in the Kathua area.He said that the tranquilly of the community is being upheld in Kathua and its outlying communities. There are people that work hard and spend days in stores and farms in order to support themselves. A calm environment predominates in this district, the DGP stated, adding that “there is a great demand for the police recruitment drives as youth here are facing unemployment.”
He claimed that whenever recruiting drives were launched in the past, police had always given border areas priority.
When asked about the situation following the Kokernag encounter, which resulted in the deaths of two army personnel and a police officer, the DGP responded, “Situation continues to remain peaceful as it was earlier.”
He claimed that the bordering country regularly concocts plots to disturb the peace, but that police and soldiers are on guard to thwart all such attempts.
