J&K to get Rs 80,000 crore investments: LG Sinha

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir will soon receive investments of Rs 80,000 crore, according to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, as the administration is eager to create an industrial ecosystem that would support the aspirations of the local young. “Given the level of enthusiasm I sense and the ideas we are receiving, I am confident that we will receive investments between Rs 75,000 crore and Rs 80,000 crore in the next few days. Five lakh people would be given jobs by it,” Sinha said following the laying of the cornerstone for a private hospital and medical school at this location. According to Sinha, the Union Territory has received an average of six bids each day over the previous two years for the construction of industrial facilities. We have been receiving offers for the construction of six industrial units every day for the past two years, on average, he continued. The hospital and medical college project, expected to cost Rs 559 crore, is the second of its kind in the valley after one established by Milli Trust earlier this year, according to Sinha. This is a reflection of our potential in the healthcare industry, and it will benefit other industries as well as the general economy. This endeavour, so I’ve been told, is also a form of foreign direct investment. This initiative is the second of its kind.We want to build an industry ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir that will support local youth aspirations and desires,” he continued. Regarding the development in healthcare, Sinha stated that the AIIMS in Jammu is largely operational while the AIIMS in Kashmir, which is being built in the Pulwama district in Awantipora, is anticipated to begin operations in 2019. “Jammu and Kashmir has the highest per-capita investment in public healthcare.” Healthcare facilities have been made sure to exist in remote regions as well. Every family in Jammu and Kashmir has access to health insurance worth Rs. 5 lakhs thanks to Ayushman Bharat,” he claimed. The project’s director, Arshid Bhat, announced that building on the project will start in March 2019. “This project was conceived two years ago. A medical college and a 500-bed hospital will be built. Everything will be covered, according to Bhat, even the specialties.
