984 pilgrims leave Jammu for Amarnath Yatra

JAMMU: On Wednesday, a group of 984 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar camp for the twin base camps in Kashmir in order to continue their trip to the 3,880-meter-high Amarnath cave shrine. Since the 62-day annual pilgrimage’s start on July 1, more than 4 lakh devotees have already made offerings at the temple. On August 31, the yatra will come to an end. According to officials, of the 984 pilgrims in this tiny group to depart from the Bhagwati Nagar camp, 498 will complete the yatra by the customary 48-km Pahalgam track in the Anantnag district and 486 will travel via the 14-km Baltal route in the Ganderbal district. With this, more than 1.41 lakh pilgrims have headed down to the valley from the base camp in Jammu. The yatra is scheduled to conclude on August 31.
