JAMMU, Feb 19: There were mudslides in Ramban district on Monday that resulted from heavy rains, according to officials here, closing the Jammu-Srinagar national route to traffic. It has been requested that people stay off the highway until the weather becomes better. According to a traffic department official,“mudslides at Mehad-Cafteria in Ramban and at Tabela Chamalwass in Banihal area have closed the Srinagar-Jammu highway for traffic.” To prevent people from becoming stranded on dangerous parts of the arterial road, authorities have halted traffic at many locations along the route.
