Pakistan attempted to launch an operation the following day to target Indian military positions in Jammu and Kashmir, but an alert Indian Air Force prevented them from doing so. The air strike was carried out early on February 26. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman crossed over to PoJK during the dogfight, where his MiG-21 Bison fighter plane was shot down while pursuing Pakistani jets. Pakistan took him into custody. Moreover, India downed Pakistani fighter plane.
