SRINAGAR: Following the recent snowfall, South Kashmir saw a sharp drop in the minimum temperature on Friday; in some places, it was the lowest it has been in 16 years. The local meteorological department‘s data indicates that Sonamarg had the lowest temperature in Kashmir, at minus 15.1 degrees Celsius. A low of minus 12.0 degrees Celsius was reported at Gulmarg, a well-known ski resort, and minus 11.9 degrees Celsius in Pahalgam. But Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital, Srinagar, saw a low of minus 0.3 degrees Celsius. A few locations, notably Bhaderwah, Banihal, Qazigund, and Batote, reported the lowest temperatures in recent years.
