NEW DELHI, Sept 28: According to a Thursday official announcement, six infrastructure projects for roads and railroads totaling Rs 52,000 crore have been recommended for sanction under the PM Gati Shakti initiative. Since the introduction of PM Gati Shakti, NPG has evaluated 112 projects, with a total estimated value of Rs 11.53 lakh crore, it stated. On September 27, the 56th Network Planning Group (NPG) meeting evaluated these six initiatives. Six project proposals, comprising four projects from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and two projects from the Ministry of Railways, with a total project cost of roughly Rs 52,000 crore, were evaluated at the group meeting under PM Gati Shakti, according to the ministry of commerce and industry.Every two weeks, the inter-ministerial NPG convenes and evaluates infrastructure projects to guarantee multi-modality, coordinated efforts, and all-encompassing development in and around the project location. The goal of the effort was to create an integrated infrastructure and save logistical costs. The NPG is the conduit for all infrastructure projects for connectivity and logistics costing more than Rs 500 crore. Before the project may be approved by the Public Investment Board (PIB) or Department of Expenditure under the finance ministry, the NPG must provide its permission. The majority of the initiatives the group suggests are in the areas of transportation (roads, trains, and cities). The NMP has a number of layers of geospatial data that display all land records, as well as the area’s physical and social infrastructure, in one location. To maximise the impact of an investment, it has been created for quicker planning and better design. For unified planning and integration of the ideas, the NPG is represented by representatives from several connectivity infrastructure ministries and departments, including their heads of network planning division. Before creating a DPR (Detailed Project Report) during the planning stage, all of these departments first request approval from the NPG. Following the NPG’s acceptance, the project goes through the customary steps of receiving Cabinet and finance ministry approval. The portal offers access to more than 1,400 layers of data, including those pertaining to land, ports, forests, and highways. The portal is increasingly being used by many ministries, including social sector departments and states, and it is assisting in the appropriate planning of projects, according to the statement.
