50 quintals of banned polythene bags seized from train at Jammu Railway Station

JAMMU: On Sunday morning at Jammu Tawi Railway Station, the joint team of the Jammu Municipal Corporation, Pollution Control Board, and General Railway Police (GRP) confiscated approximately 50 quintals of prohibited polythene bags after acting quickly on reliable information. According to a senior official, the teams of the Pollution Control Board and the Jammu Municipal Corporation were informed as a result of information received that approximately 50 quintals of prohibited polythene bags were being transported in the Shree Shakti Express on its way from Delhi to Jammu and were hidden in 166 boxes.”The polythene bags were dropped along with other items and packages when the train arrived at the platform, and upon checking, 166 packets of polythene were discovered and were owned by none,” they claimed. A case was filed at Police Station GRP Jammu in accordance with the pertinent laws. The operation was carried out in the meantime by a team led by Dr. Vinod Sharma from the JMC and Arshad Malik from the PCB, flanked by the GRP Jammu team led by SDPO Railways Jammu Albina Malik and a special team on the ground led by Inspector Niaz Ahmed and Inspector Madan Sharma, and under the direction of SSP Railways Jammu Mohan LaL Kaith. The experts deemed the seized polythene bags to be a prohibited material.
