4 fresh earthquakes hit Jammu region

DODA: A day after a 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck the Doda district, four further earthquakes shook the Jammu region on Wednesday and sent inhabitants into a state of terror.According to officials, there have been no reports of casualties or property damage as of yet. At 8:29 am, a 3.3 magnitude earthquake was felt in Kishtwar. According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), its epicentre was five kilometres beneath the surface. Prior to that, earthquakes of magnitude 3.5 were detected in Doda at 7:56 am, with the epicentre being 10 kilometres beneath the surface, according to NCS data. In the morning hours, there were two more earthquakes that were noted. According to the data, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake with a 10 km depth was felt in the Doda district at 2:20 am. According to the NCS, the second earthquake, which had a magnitude of 2.8, took place at 2:43 a.m. in the Reasi district, 74 kilometres east of Katra. Its epicentre was five km below the surface. Four new earthquakes struck a day after powerful tremors shook the Doda district.The earthquake on Tuesday caused damage to a number of structures in the two hilly districts of Doda and Kishtwar. Two youngsters were among the five injured people, and the administration closed the schools as a precaution. The Jammu and Kashmir region as well as nearby regions felt the effects of the earthquake strongly. According to the NCS, a review of the previous five years reveals that small quakes in the immediate area of the Doda region constitute typical seismic activity.
