JAMMU: Three people have been arrested by the police for their alleged involvement in throwing a mobile phone into the premises of the high security District Jail Amphalla in order to aid an under-trial in the murder case. A police spokesperson said that on April 2, 2024, a Chinese mobile phone along with a SIM card and a charging lead wrapped inside a Cosco ball was recovered from the premises of the District Jail. On this, he said, a case FIR number 36/2024 under Section 42 of the Prison Act was registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and investigation of the case entrusted to incharge Police Post Rehari, Muzaffar Hussain Shah. Sensing the gravity of the situation and happening of the incident in a sensitive location, the police spokesperson further said that a special team headed by SDPO City North Jammu, Devinder Singh Bandral, assisted by Inspector Rakesh Singh, SHO Pacca Danga Police Station, was constituted by SP City North Jammu, Shivam Sidharth. He said the team arrested one Mohammad Akheel Wani of Belicharana, Jammu on the basis of human and technical intelligence, who disclosed during investigation that he provided the SIM card to his friend Harsh Singh of Vikram Chowk Jammu, who was a history-sheeter. On this, he added that the police team arrested Harsh Singh, who further disclosed that he along with one Vikas Singh alias Raja, another history-sheeter of Gho Manhasa, Jammu, in league with each other hatched a criminal conspiracy to throw the Cosco ball inside the premises of the jail to assist an under trial in murder case, Vishwajeet Singh alias Vishu of Gho Manhasa, Jammu. According to the police spokesperson, Vikas and Vishwajeet befriended each other during their stay in a common prison in the past. Subsequently, he said, Vikas Singh and Harsh Singh went to District Jail Amphalla on April 2, 2024 on a Splendor bike (JK02CT-1088) and threw the ball inside the premises of the jail to aid Vishwajeet Singh. While Harsh Singh was arrested already, Vikas Singh of Gho Manhasa was arrested on April 12, 2024 along with the motorcycle used in the commission of offence, said the police spokesperson. Further investigation into the case is underway.
