Srinagar, Mar 4: In a devastating fire incident that broke out at Tak Masjid in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, three commercial buildings and a residential house were gutted during the wee hours on Tuesday, officials said.
The Fire and Emergency Service officials said that the fire broke out at 3.50 am in a commercial building at Tak Masjid area and spread to other nearby buildings like a wildfire.
In the incident the fire caused damage to three commercial buildings and one residential house. The inferno also damaged at least 20 shops of different kinds in the commercial structures, they said.
Several fire tenders were rushed to the spot from Shopian but upon assessing the intensity of the fire and the structures involved, additional reinforcement of fire tenders were sent from Keeram, Rajpora and Pulwama headquarters to douse the leaping flames.
The swift and efficient fire fighting efforts by the personnel brought the fire under control before it could have spread to other surrounding areas.
No one was injured in the incident; they said and added the cause of fire is being ascertained.
