Jammu, Jan 8: Over 2,000 birds perished in a fire that started at a poultry farm on the outskirts of Jammu city, according to officials on Monday. They said that the event happened on Sunday night on the farm owned by a man named Ranjeet Singh in the Doke Jagir area of Akhnoor tehsil here. The abrupt onset of the fire immediately spread throughout the entire poultry factory and eventually consumed the entire farm, according to the officials. They added that the fierce fire claimed the lives of almost 2,000 hens. They also stated that efforts are being made to determine the cause of the fire and evaluate the degree of the damage.
