Srinagar, June 22 : Army today foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district and killed two militantsAn encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Uri sector this evening.
The gunfight started when security forces launched a search operation in Bajrang-Uri sector following specific information about the presence of some infiltrating militants.They said the hiding militants opened fire on the security personnel, who retaliated, thereby triggering a gunfight.
Meanwhile, the Army’s Chinar Corps, in a post on ‘X’, said: “Based on specific intelligence inputs, an anti-infiltration Operation was launched in the Uri sector. Contact was established with infiltrating terrorists and operations are in progress.”
An official said that two militants are believed to be dead. However, bodies were not retrieved so far.
On June 19, two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants were killed while two security personnel were injured in an encounter that broke out in the Rafiabad area of Baramulla district. On 17th June, a local militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Aragam Bandipora.
