SAMBA, Oct 6: Police has worked out a series of theft cases including theft from shops located in Main Market Samba and motorbike thefts in the jurisdiction of Police Post (PP) Rakh Amb Talli, PP SIDCO Samba, PP Supwal and arrested five notorious thieves and recovered stolen cash and six motorbikes from their illegal possession.
In the first incident of theft, unknown thieves broke open five different shops located at Main Market Samba and decamped with cash during the intervening night of 7/8 July, this year.
In the second incident, few motorcycle theft cases were reported in different areas of Pangdour, Rakh Amb Talli, SIDCO Samba and Nanake Chak under the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba.
Acting upon this, various case FIRs viz No.184/2024, FIR No. 251/2024, FIR No. 247/2024, FIR No. 248/2024 and FIR No.249/2024 under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Samba and investigation got started.
Taking cognizance into the matter, DySP Headquarters Samba immediately constituted different Police teams under SHO PS Samba led by Incharge PP Rakh Amb Talli, in charge PP, SIDCO and Incharge PP, Supwal to work out the said theft cases thus affecting the arrest of the accused persons.
During the investigation, police rounded up two suspects in shops theft cases namely Faqir Hussain son of Liyaqat Ali of Chak Drar district Kathua at present SIDCO Phase-1 Samba and Shah Din son of Isham of Chak Bagga, Lashipura, district Kathua for questioning. Both the accused confessed their involvement in the theft in five shops in Samba Bazaar. The amount was recovered on their disclosure along with the motorbike bearing Registration Number JK08P-5839 from the house of Faqir Hussain which they had purchased from the stolen money.
Police said accused Shah Din has also been involved in theft cases registered against him at Police Station, Rajbagh and Police Station, Kathua.
Similarly, during the investigation of motorbike theft cases, Police rounded up several suspects and finally zeroed one suspect namely Abdul Karim alias Bachu, son of Mohd Sharif of Chack Manga Gujran who upon sustained questioning disclosed that he had committed all the thefts along with his associates.
After this, police carried out raids at different locations at Kanachak, Gajansoo area of Jammu and in Samba and arrested two co-accused namely Abu Bilal, son of Mohd Yousaf of Burj Tanda, Samba and Haneef Ali son of Mohd Yaqoob of Gajansoo tehsil Marh district Jammu.
On their disclosure Police recovered five stolen motorcycles from their possession.
