JAMMU, Jul 26: Police said on Wednesday that 2 alleged criminals were detained under the stringent Public safety Act in Rajouri and Samba districts of J&K.According to a police spokeswoman, Mohammad Shakeel, a resident of Muradpur village in Rajouri, and Balwander Singh, also known as “Goru Jatt,” of Rahya Ranjari in Samba were both arrested under the PSA for their recurrent participation in criminal activity over the course of several years.
The PSA is an administrative statute that, in some circumstances, permits detention for up to two years without charge or trial.According to the spokesman, on the advice of the police, concerned deputy commissioners issued the order for the pair to be detained.
“Singh was charged in numerous crimes involving attempted murder, shooting, and heroin trafficking, whereas Shakeel was discovered to be engaged in numerous cases of cattle smuggling. They have been a serious threat to the calm and tranquilly of the population, he claimed.In the meantime, heroin and four drug dealers, including a lady, were detained in the Kathua and Jammu regions.
Arun Kumar of the Qasim Nagar neighbourhood was detained in Jammu with roughly 20 gramme of heroin, according to the statement. Vishavdeep Singh and Ranjeet Singh were both detained with 8.30 gramme of heroin during vehicle checking at Hatli Morh in Kathua.He said that six grammes of heroin and 200 grammes of ganja were discovered in a woman’s hands in the Jammu neighbourhood of Bahu Fort, leading to her detention.
