SRINAGAR: One person was killed and twelve others were injured in a rare terror attack targeting tourists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. The attack took place at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday afternoon when a group of terrorists, dressed in fatigues, opened fire on tourists in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow. Visuals from the site of the attack showed bodies strewn around and a couple of women crying in distress as locals rushed to their aid. An eyewitness said that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the tourists from close range, resulting in injuries to several persons. Following the terror attack, Union Home Minister Amit Shah called a high-level meeting. The meeting is being attended by the Home Secretary, senior officials from the Intelligence Bureau and the Ministry of Home Affairs. Jammu and Kashmir officials, including the Director General of Police (DGP), are attending the meeting virtually.
