JAMMU: An Industry\u2013Employment Interface Meeting was held at the Directorate of Employment, Toph Sherkhania, Jammu, under the chairmanship of Harvinder Singh, IAS<\/a>, Director Employment, J&K and Managing Director, Mission YUVA, with a focus on strengthening linkages between industry and employment and aligning skilling initiatives with emerging industrial requirements.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by the Joint Director, Industries, Jammu; Joint Director, Employment, Jammu; General Manager (RAM), J&K Bank; General Manager, District Industries Centre, Kathua; and Deputy Director, DECC Jammu, besides senior officers and representatives from industry bodies.<\/p>\n

The industry delegation included Rahul Sahai, Chairman, Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), J&K; Manik Batra, Chairman, ASSOCHAM J&K Council; and Tarun Singla, Chairman, Federation of Industries\/Bari Brahmana Industrial Association, along with representatives of leading chambers and industry associations.<\/p>\n

The deliberations centred on industry-driven skilling, manpower requirements, job-role mapping, placements and ancillarisation across Jammu, Samba and Kathua.<\/p>\n

Industry representatives were invited to share details of available vacancies and the specific skill sets required so that the Directorate of Employment could tailor training programmes accordingly and identify suitable candidates for emerging job opportunities.<\/p>\n

The meeting also stressed the need to create greater awareness about schemes under Mission YUVA, particularly the Business Acceleration of Existing Enterprises and Neo-Innovative Enterprises components, through industry associations and District SBDUs.Geographic Reference<\/p>\n

Officials said Mission YUVA has set a target of creating 1.37 lakh enterprises and 4.25 lakh employment opportunities.<\/p>\n

So far, 29,862 units have been financed, involving a total project cost of \u20b94,891 crore and bank credit of \u20b91,899 crore.<\/p>\n

The meeting reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to creating a demand-driven ecosystem linking industry, skilling, employment and entrepreneurship to improve opportunities for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.<\/p>\n
