SRINAGAR: Srinagar Police on Friday attached immovable and movable properties worth more than \u20b94 crore in separate actions carried out under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, targeting assets allegedly linked to narcotics trafficking in the city.<\/p>\n

The action was undertaken by Srinagar Police through Police Station Lal Bazar and Police Station Khanayar as part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign being conducted across Jammu and Kashmir to curb the menace of drug trafficking and dismantle networks involved in the illegal trade.<\/p>\n

In one of the cases, Police Station Lal Bazar attached a double-storey residential house constructed on nine marlas of land belonging to Aadil Ahmad Dhobi of Sikh Bagh, Lal Bazar. A Swift Dzire vehicle bearing registration number JK01U-0980 linked to the accused was also attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 05\/2026 registered under Sections 8\/22 and 29 of the NDPS Act.<\/p>\n

In a separate action, Lal Bazar Police attached a Santro vehicle bearing registration number DL4CAP-6047 belonging to Arshid Ahmad Sheikh of Haka Bazar. The vehicle was attached in connection with FIR No. 50\/2025 registered under Section 8\/20 of the NDPS Act.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Police Station Khanayar attached a double-storey residential house along with 12 marlas of land valued at approximately \u20b92 crore belonging to Owais Hussain Mir of Tangbagh, Khanayar. The attachment was carried out in connection with FIR No. 12\/2024 registered under Sections 8\/20 and 29 of the NDPS Act.<\/p>\n

According to police officials, investigations revealed that the property was allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from narcotics trafficking. Following the completion of legal formalities, the attachment was executed under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.<\/p>\n

Police stated that the cumulative value of the attached properties and vehicles exceeds \u20b94 crore, making it one of the significant asset-attachment drives undertaken by Srinagar Police in recent months.<\/p>\n

Officials said the objective of the action is to dismantle the financial infrastructure supporting the narcotics trade by depriving accused persons of assets allegedly acquired through unlawful activities. They added that targeting the economic gains derived from drug trafficking remains a key component of the broader strategy to combat the drug menace.<\/p>\n

Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating narcotics trafficking and substance abuse from society. The police also appealed to citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing credible information regarding drug peddling and related illegal activities, emphasizing that public participation remains crucial in the fight against narcotics.<\/p>\n
