JAMMU: Senior Superintendent of Police Jammu, Joginder Singh, on Monday briefed the media on the significant achievements recorded by District Police Jammu during the first 50 days of the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan, highlighting intensified enforcement measures and a comprehensive strategy aimed at eradicating drug trafficking across the district.Reaffirming Jammu Police\u2019s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and drug peddling, the SSP said that a coordinated approach involving enforcement, intelligence gathering, community participation and legal action has produced encouraging results in curbing the drug menace.<\/p>\n

During the first 50 days of the campaign, Jammu Police registered 176 cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act across the district. As part of the sustained crackdown, police seized substantial quantities of narcotics, including 5 kilograms and 533 grams of heroin (chitta), estimated to be worth approximately \u20b916.60 crore.<\/p>\n

The police also seized 3 kilograms and 250 grams of poppy straw valued at around \u20b987,000, 29 kilograms and 267 grams of ganja worth approximately \u20b98.78 lakh, and 1 kilogram of opium valued at nearly \u20b927,000.<\/p>\n

Providing details of the enforcement action, Joginder Singh said that 202 accused persons have been arrested or detained under the NDPS Act during the campaign. In addition, one notorious drug offender has been detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT-NDPS) Act, reflecting the department\u2019s resolve to target habitual offenders and dismantle organised drug networks.<\/p>\n

The SSP said that Jammu Police has also undertaken extensive financial investigations and asset-tracing measures to weaken the economic foundations of narcotics trafficking.<\/p>\n

As part of these efforts, 37 vehicles linked to drug-related activities have been seized. Police have frozen 123.290 grams of gold valued at approximately \u20b913.70 lakh and frozen 26 bank accounts involving transactions amounting to nearly \u20b918 lakh.<\/p>\n

Further, properties worth \u20b95.19 crore have been attached in eight cases, including three movable and five immovable properties. Additionally, 22 properties belonging to known offenders have been demolished in coordination with the district administration.<\/p>\n

The police have also initiated strict administrative measures against individuals involved in drug trafficking. During the campaign, 27 driving licences have been cancelled, while registration certificates of 143 vehicles have been revoked.<\/p>\n

Continuing its offensive against infrastructure allegedly used by drug traffickers, Jammu Police demolished 22 illegal structures, including 11 pucca houses and 11 khullas, which were reportedly being used to facilitate narcotics-related activities.<\/p>\n

Addressing the media, Joginder Singh said that the fight against drugs is not merely a law enforcement challenge but a broader social responsibility that requires collective participation from all sections of society. He appreciated the support extended by the public, civil society organisations, educational institutions and youth in making the campaign successful.<\/p>\n

He urged citizens to continue sharing information regarding drug peddling and narcotics-related activities with the police and assured that all credible inputs would be acted upon promptly and professionally.<\/p>\n

The SSP reiterated that District Police Jammu remains fully committed to the vision of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir and will continue its relentless campaign against narcotics under the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan.<\/p>\n

He further asserted that Jammu Police remains steadfast in protecting the youth, safeguarding society and ensuring that drug traffickers find no space to operate within the district.<\/p>\n
