SRINAGAR, May 31: Security forces today detained a Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) resident and a local woman near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district.
\nAn official said that a PoJK national, identified as Zeeshan Ahmad Mir, son of Lal Din Mir and a resident of Muzaffarabad, was apprehended by the Army\u2019s 12 Grenadiers unit at Silikote in Uri.He was detained along with Iram Bano, daughter of Abdul Majeed Mir and a resident of Tilawari village in Uri.
\nPreliminary investigations suggest the duo were in a relationship. The PoJK resident is believed to have crossed the LoC to meet the woman in Uri adding that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined and no conclusions have been drawn so far.
\nThe duo is currently in Army custody and are being questioned to ascertain how the PoJK resident managed to reach the area and the exact circumstances that led to the suspected cross-LoC movement.
\nArmy in post on X said \u201cEx-filtration Bid Foiled by Chinar Warriors Based on specific intelligence input, a joint search operation was launched by Indian Army and Jmu Kmr Police in general area of Uri, Baramulla.\u201d
\n\u201cTwo individuals from Sopore apprehended by vigilant Chinar Warriors while attempting exfiltration in Uri Sector with inimical intent along with their accomplice guide. Further probe underway,\u201d it said.
\nAn official said investigations are underway in both cases to determine the motives and possible security implications.
\nThe official said that the Army 12 Grenadiers deployed at LoC in Hathlanga \u2013 Nambla axis apprehended two persons from LoC who were trying to exfiltrate.
\nHe identified them as Ishfaq Shafi Lone of Hatlaga Sopore and Jaffar Hafeez Shiekh of Hatlanga Sopore.<\/p>\n
