JAMMU: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu, Joginder Singh, on Wednesday stated that there is no active terrorist presence in Jammu district, attributing the secure environment to sustained counter-terror and preventive policing measures.<\/p>\n

\nAddressing a press conference at the District Police Lines (DPL), Jammu, the SSP said that to maintain security, the police conducted 541 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) and 1,093 Long Range Patrols (LRPs) during the year 2025.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in a separate press conference in Kathua district, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma said that two terrorists were eliminated in anti-terror operations in 2025. She informed that four terrorism-related cases were registered and seven persons arrested during the year. In a major crackdown on terror networks, 18 Over Ground Workers (OGWs)\u2014out of 39 identified\u2014were booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA).<\/p>\n

Crime Scenario in Jammu District<\/p>\n

Presenting an overview of the crime situation, law and order scenario, and key policing outcomes for 2025, SSP Joginder Singh said that 4,134 FIRs were registered in Jammu district\u2014the lowest figure in the last five years.<\/p>\n

During the same period, 5,122 cases were disposed of, including 1,968 old cases and 3,154 new cases, marking the highest disposal rate in the past five years.<\/p>\n

The SSP said the reduction of 288 cases was the result of effective preventive actions, PSA and PIT-NDPS detentions, proper bail contesting and cancellation appeals, proactive policing, 208 preliminary enquiries under Section 175 BNSS, and sustained deployments during Operation Sindoor and flash-flood duties. He emphasized that the decline reflected crime prevention, not under-reporting.<\/p>\n

Property Crimes and Recoveries<\/p>\n

In cases related to crimes against property, the SSP said that property worth approximately \u20b920 crore was reported stolen during the year.<\/p>\n

\u201cProperty worth around \u20b910 crore was recovered, achieving a recovery rate of about 50 percent, the highest in the last five years,\u201d he said. Special teams were deployed to address burglary, vehicle theft, wire theft, and cattle theft, leading to improved detection and recovery.<\/p>\n

Crackdown on Organised Crime<\/p>\n

SSP Jammu said focused action was taken against organised criminal networks:<\/p>\n

123 hardcore criminals and gangsters identified
\n59 FIRs registered against gangsters
\n67 gangsters and hardcore criminals arrested
\n49 illegal weapons recovered
\n73 FIRs registered under organised crime provisions
\nOne accused detained under UAPA
\nHe reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy against organised and habitual offenders was strictly enforced.<\/p>\n

War Against Drugs<\/p>\n

In the fight against drug trafficking, 204 NDPS FIRs were registered and 309 persons arrested during 2025.<\/p>\n

\n23 drug-linked illegal structures demolished by the administration
\nRecoveries included over 15 kg heroin worth approximately \u20b960 crore in the international market, 78 kg ganja, 114 kg poppy straw, along with capsules and opium. Supply-chain investigations led to 12 FIRs and 36 arrests across Jammu, Punjab, Kathua, Udhampur, and Rajouri.<\/p>\n

Cyber Crime Action<\/p>\n

On cybercrime, SSP Jammu said that 36 cyber FIRs were registered in 2025 and 708 complaints disposed of.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn amount of \u20b95.26 crore was refunded, \u20b96.69 crore lien-marked, and 746 mobile phones worth around \u20b91.75 crore were recovered and handed over to their rightful owners,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
