JAMMU, Dec 28: Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have detained a woman, who is a resident of Thailand, and booked another individual from Kurukshetra area of Haryana after noticing some immoral activities at a spa centre in the Channi Himmat area of the district.
\nA police official said the woman was found inside O2 Spa Centre during a late-night checking on Saturday and was detained for questioning as part of the investigation.
\nHe said the owner of the spa centre, identified as Jai Singh of Kurukshetra, Haryana, was booked under FIR number 237\/2025 registered at Police Station Channi Himmat under section 24 of the Immigration Act and Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for keeping a foreign national at the spa centre without permission or prior intimation to the concerned authorities.
\nAccording to the police official, the action followed specific intelligence inputs about suspected immoral activities being carried out at spa centres operating along the National Highway in the Channi Himmat area.
\nActing on the inputs, he said, a team from Police Station Channi Himmat, led by the SHO concerned, and accompanied by other police officials, including the lady staff and an Executive Magistrate, conducted raids on several centres on Saturday night.
\nDuring the operation, police carried out thorough checking of the spa centres, he said.
\n\u201cOfficial records, registers, and other documents maintained by the management were examined to verify compliance with norms,\u201d said the police official.
\nHe said police also seized DVRs and other incriminating material from the premises, which have been taken into custody for further examination and analysis.
\nThe police official added that the spa owner has been absconding since the raids and a manhunt has been launched to arrest him.
\nFurther investigation has been initiated to ascertain whether any wider network is involved and to verify the role of other persons connected with the spa centres, he said.
\nThe entire operation was conducted under the close supervision of SDPO East and SP City South, with overall supervision of SSP Jammu.<\/p>\n
