JAMMU, Nov 16: The doctors who obtained their MBBS degree from Pakistan and Bangladesh are under scanner following busting of white-collar terror module across the country with roots in the Kashmir valley.Besides other parts of the country, a number of youths from Jammu and Kashmir have studied MBBS in Pakistan and Bangladesh while others are still undergoing training in the Medical Colleges of two hostile Indian neighbours, official sources told the Excelsior.
\nAsserting that no name has so far figured during investigations in terror-module involving doctors from Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and other States, who have completed their degrees in Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Intelligence officials, however, said they have been put under surveillance and their activities are being watched.
\nEarlier, police and Intelligence agencies of Jammu and Kashmir had unearthed a scam in which some separatist leaders of Kashmir including those from the Hurriyat Conference had recommended youths for admissions in Medical Colleges of Pakistan after charging huge sum from them.
\nNames of senior separatist leaders had also figured in the scam.
\nHowever, now Pakistan is not the only hostile neighbor of India but name of Bangladesh has also been added to the list following change of power in the country. There have been reports that Pakistan\u2019s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been operating freely in Bangladesh.
\n\u201cWe have kept the doctors who have recently completed their degrees in Pakistan and Bangladesh and returned to the country including Jammu and Kashmir and those who are still studying there, if any, under surveillance to ensure that they are not radicalized and don\u2019t indulge in subversive activities on their return,\u201d the officials said.
\nThey, however, added that the investigating agencies in Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh etc have not sounded about involvement of any such doctor in white-collar terror module but admitted that the investigations are ongoing.
\nBesides medical professionals, police and Intelligence agencies conducted raids on over ground network of the terrorists and jails in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir to thwart radicalization attempts and terror plots recently.
\nOfficials described the raids which last three to four days in different parts of the UT as \u201csuccessful\u201d.
\nUmar, a 28-year-old doctor from Pulwama, emerged as the most radicalized and key operative in the network spanning Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, and officials believe he was planning a powerful vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) blast on December 6.
\nHowever, his plans were to place a VBIED around a crowded place, either in the national capital or at some place of religious importance, and disappear, the officials said, piecing together the evidence.<\/p>\n
