Srinagar, Nov 8: Minister Sakina Ittoo after laying foundation stone of GDC Mattan and PHC Mattan on Saturday strongly criticised those responsible for the erosion of Jammu & Kashmir\u2019s statehood, indirectly targeting the PDP.
\nSpeaking to reporters, Minister Ittoo, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner \u2014 KNC, said, \u201cI have always said that those who pushed us from a State to a Union Territory are responsible for today\u2019s situation. This is their doing their \u2018favour\u2019 to the people,\u201d she remarked in a veiled attack on the PDP.
\nOn the shift in administrative powers, she said, \u201cWhen we were a State, our authority and powers were far greater. Today, the powers available in a UT are not the same. That is the biggest difference.\u201d
\nMinister Ittoo said that since the formation of the present government, efforts have been made to ensure public services reach people at their doorsteps. She added that MLA Reyaz Khan had raised the demand for a proper building for the PHC at Mattan.
\n\u201cPeople were facing difficulties in patient care. Today, we have laid the foundation stone. The building will be completed within two years, and patients will receive much better healthcare facilities,\u201d she said.
\nSpeaking about the Budgam election campaign, Minister Ittoo said she was astonished by the overwhelming public response during the Chief Minister\u2019s visit.
\n\u201cI was surprised to see how people welcomed him. Entire villages came out, roads were filled, and the reception was overwhelming. I am hopeful, and I trust Allah first and then the people of Budgam, that our candidate will win with a strong majority,\u201d she said.
\nResponding to questions regarding complaints against private schools, Minister Ittoo said,
\n\u201cWe have received some complaints. We are examining them, and whatever steps need to be taken thereafter will certainly be taken.\u201d<\/p>\n
