Srinagar, Oct 23: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday paid tributes to former legislators and ministers during obituary references on the first day of the Assembly\u2019s Autumn Session. He also urged the Speaker to seek an explanation over the omission of Sultan Panditpuri in the obituary reference.
\nSpeaking in the Legislative Assembly, CM Omar, said that those whom we are paying respects today have worked to do something better. \u201cNobody among us is an angel. Mistakes are bound to happen either intentionally or unintentionally,\u201d he said.
\nThe Chief Minister also suggested the Speaker to cut-short the obituary by paying respect without making speeches. \u201cWe are politicians and we always prefer to do politics. Therefore, like Parliament, the Speaker is urged to consider adopting a similar procedure for paying respects during the obituary,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cAs we remember them today, tomorrow we will also be remembered. At this point of time, we should try to learn from them,\u201d he said.
\nHe added that all these leaders have served the people after being elected by them or while being associated with any party.
\nHighlighting the work of former J&K Governor, Satya Pal Malik\u2019s role, the chief Minister said that he has worked as an MLA and served in different states besides serving as a minister.
\n\u201cWe may have different opinions, but Satya Pal Malik might have taken a decision that suits the time,\u201d he said.
\nTerming G M Shaheen as a brave leader, the Chief Minister said that despite surviving the major attack, he always remained ready and steady to serve the people.<\/p>\n
