SIRMAUR (H.P.): A school principal in Himachal Pradesh found himself in an embarrassing situation after a cheque he issued for Rs 7,616 was rejected by the bank due to glaring spelling errors in the written amount.<\/p>\n

The cheque, signed on 25 September by Alter Singh, principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Ronhat, correctly displayed the numerical amount. However, the written amount read: \u201cSaven Thursday six Harendra sixty rupees\u201d instead of \u201cSeven thousand six hundred sixteen rupees\u201d.<\/p>\n

Despite bearing the school stamp and principal\u2019s signature, the cheque was bounced by the bank, and an image of it quickly went viral on social media.<\/p>\n

The incident sparked widespread online ridicule, with users questioning the quality of education in state-run schools. Many pointed out that confusing \u201cThursday\u201d for \u201cThousand\u201d and \u201cHarendra\u201d for \u201cHundred\u201d raised concerns about the lessons being imparted to students.<\/p>\n

Following the backlash, the school had to issue a corrected cheque. But the viral image had already turned a routine payment into a nationwide grammar lesson, drawing laughter and criticism alike.<\/p>\n
