Srinagar, Sep 21: In a move to further enhance digital governance and promote paperless administration, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has declared that all documents and certificates hosted on DigiLocker will henceforth be treated as authentic and valid for official purposes.<\/p>\n

As per a circular issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), government has made the adoption and integration of DigiLocker mandatory across all Government departments, public sector undertakings, and advisory boards.<\/p>\n

Officials said the move is intended to boost efficiency, ensure transparency, and secure long-term digital retention of records in line with the objectives of the Government of India\u2019s Digital India programme.<\/p>\n

DigiLocker, a flagship initiative of the Union Government, provides a secure cloud-based platform for issuance, storage, sharing, and verification of digital certificates. While similar instructions were issued in April 2022, officials noted that several departments continued to rely heavily on physical documents, undermining e-Governance reforms.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll documents and certificates hosted on DigiLocker shall be treated as authentic and valid for official purposes, in line with the instructions notified by the Government of India,\u201d the circular states. The GAD has directed all Administrative Secretaries and departmental heads to ensure immediate compliance.<\/p>\n

To facilitate the transition, the Information Technology Department has been tasked with providing technical and logistical assistance. Resource persons designated for this purpose include senior consultant Shaila Farooq, Syed Aijaz Ahmad, and Manpreet Singh, who will support departments in integrating DigiLocker into their workflows.<\/p>\n

The Government has further cautioned that any continued reliance on physical documentation will be viewed as a violation of e-Governance norms.<\/p>\n
