SRINAGAR: Ruling National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah Wednesday ruled out any deliberate attempt to sabotage the fruit industry in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was because of God\u2019s wrath and not peoples\u2019 doing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no deliberate attempt. Did people break the mountains? \u201cDid it rain because of people? It was God\u2019s wrath because we have kept a distance from God,\u201d Abdullah told reporters in Anantnag district.<\/p>\n

He was responding to questions about many political leaders alleging that fruit-laden trucks were kept stranded on the highway in a \u201cdeliberate\u201d attempt to harm J&K\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

The former chief minister of the erstwhile state of J&K said people do not pray and do not seek God.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo we share God\u2019s blessing with the poor? We have to learn to do these things.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese troubles awaken us to remember our Lord, that we have to go to Him. Only then He will take us out of these troubles,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Referring to the situation in Gaza, Abdullah said \u201cLook what is happening there. Israel is trying to wipe them\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs any Muslim country raising its voice? Thousands are dying, why? \u201cIt is because they are far away from God. They do not know that God exists and is testing them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Asked if the leaders were playing politics on the issue of fruits, the NC president said politics will never stop in Kashmir.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir homes run on it. They get money from Delhi and are alive on their blessings. The day money stops, they (leaders) will also fall,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
