Srinagar, Aug 2: The Amarnath Yatra has been suspended from tomorrow on both routes as authorities are undertaking maintenance work following recent heavy rains.
\nThe annual yatra is scheduled to conclude on August 9, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan.
\nDivisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, said due to the recent heavy rains, critical repair and maintenance works are required on both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes.
\n\u201cIt has been observed that due to continued deployment of men and machinery on the tracks from tomorrow, we would not be able to resume yatra. The Yatra will therefore remain suspended from 3rd August onwards from both the routes,\u201d Bidhuri said.
\nAn official spokesman said more than 4.10 lakh yatris paid obeisance at the Holy Cave of Shri Amarnathji this year.<\/p>\n
