JAMMU, July 28: While claiming that LoP in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi has adopted some orphan children of Pak shelling in Poonch, JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra today announced fresh schedule of protests, hunger strike and outreach programmes to intensify the Statehood movement of the party, after successful conduct of its \u2018Delhi Chalo\u2019 programme.Addressing a press conference at party office here today, Karra disclosed that\u00a0 party shall hold peaceful protest dharna at Jammu, Srinagar and all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir on August \u00a05, the sixth anniversary of the downgrading of the historic state. It shall be observed as a `black day\u2019 and impressive sit- in Dharna shall be held at Maharaja Hari Singh Park besides all district headquarters to press for Statehood.
\nFlanked by senior leaders Raman Bhalla working president, Mula Ram, Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Th Balbir Singh, Naresh Gupta, Manmohan Singh, Hari Singh Chib, Dina Nath Bhagat, Yash Pal Kundal and Neeraj Gupta, Karra said that a massive outreach campaign shall be launched from August Ist to seek public support for Statehood. All the stakeholders shall be taken into confidence.
\nHe said on \u00a0August 9, Quit India Day,\u00a0 the party shall launch day long hunger strike at both party headquarters till 20th August, the birth anniversary of Late Rajiv Gandhi. However 15th \u00a0& 16th \u00a0August have been exempted.
\nKarra said that first phase of Statehood struggle \u201cHamari Riyasat Hamara Haq \u201d including Srinagar Chalo, Jammu Chalo and finally Delhi Chalo remained very successful with full support of our national leadership and it drew the focus of entire political spectrum in the country towards our legitimate demand for Statehood.
\nNow, the party shall further intensify the struggle in various democratic modes of protests, dharnas, hunger strikes, Churahe- Pe- Charcha and mass contact programme in order to create pressure on BJP\u2019 Government to fulfill the commitments to restore full Statehood at the earliest.
\nKarra further said that a three days special session should be held shortly to apply pressure on the Government for bringing legislation to restore full Statehood.
\nJKPCC chief also disclosed that he will be visiting Rajouri Poonch for three days from today to interact with\u00a0 people at Sunderbani, Rajouri and Poonch over the mission Statehood. He said that LoP Rahul Gandhi has adopted some orphan children of the victims of Pak firing in Poonch. He would meet those families at Poonch besides also visiting Holy Budha Amarnath pilgrimage.
\nKarra said he\u00a0had\u00a0visited Budha Amarnath Ji and Dera Nangali Sahib in May & prayed for peace, brotherhood and safety of people.
\nHe said the visit to Poonch is being taken up on the directions of high command to meet the victim families of Pak firing. He elaborated the schedule of struggle\/protests for Statehood and said the campaign Chorahe pe Charcha will be held from Ist August till August 5 in cities and towns\u00a0 and other important localities, to approach different organizations and like minded forces groups, including trade, business, transport organizations. Mass sit- in dharnas at both capital cities Srinagar & Jammu as well as all districts across UT will be held on August 5, 2025 coinciding with sixth anniversary of downgrading of the historical J&K state. As usual August 5, shall be observed as black day.
\nOn August 9, Quit India Day shall be observed and a day long chain hunger strike in both capital cities till\u00a0August 20, with break on Independence Day on August 15 & 16 will be launched.<\/p>\n
