{"id":30367,"date":"2025-07-01T08:53:38","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T08:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/?p=30367"},"modified":"2025-07-01T08:53:38","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T08:53:38","slug":"pdps-protest-march-against-jk-govt-thwarted-by-police-several-leaders-detained","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/pdps-protest-march-against-jk-govt-thwarted-by-police-several-leaders-detained\/","title":{"rendered":"PDP\u2019s Protest March Against J&#038;K Govt Thwarted By Police, Several Leaders Detained"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Srinagar, Jul 1: Police on Tuesday foiled a protest march here by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party against the National Conference government\u2019s \u201cfailure\u201d to fulfil its promises and \u201cbetrayal\u201d of public trust.<br \/>\nSeveral Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders were also detained by police, officials said.<br \/>\nPDP leaders and activists assembled at the party headquarters near the Sher-e-Kashmir Park here and tried to march towards the Lal Chowk city centre to protest the government\u2019s \u201cunfulfilled promises and continued betrayal of public trust\u201d.<br \/>\nPolice asked the protesters to disperse, but they continued their march. Later, police stopped the protesters and took several of them into custody, the officials said.<br \/>\nPDP general secretaries Abdul Haq Khan and Mohammad Khurshid Alam, and senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura and Syed Basharat Bukhari were detained by police. Some leaders of the party\u2019s women\u2019s wing were also detained.<br \/>\nBefore being taken away by police, Hanjura described the police action as \u201cdictatorship\u201d by the government.<br \/>\n\u201cWe tried to take out a protest march against the non-availability of drinking water, increase in electricity tariff and to demand the return of our youth languishing in jails outside J&amp;K.
