JAMMU, Mar 28: Grief engulfed the homes of four brave police personnel who attained martyrdom while fighting Pakistani terrorists in Jakhole village of Kathua district on Friday.
\nTheir families, though grief-stricken, expressed immense pride in their sacrifice for the nation and demanded a strong response against Pakistan, similar to the one after the Pulwama attack.In Chamba village of Block Panthal in Reasi district, locals gathered early at the residence of martyr Tariq Ahmed, son of Qadir Hussain, to console the bereaved family.
\nAccording to them, Ahmed, who is survived by his wife and four-year-old daughter, had promised to be with them to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.
\n\u201cBut that didn\u2019t happen as God had different plans for him,\u201d one of the mourners said.
\nNayeem Naiz, Ahmed\u2019s cousin, who is preparing to join the Indian Army, vowed to avenge his brother\u2019s killing.
\n\u201cThey have killed my brother\u2026 If I am inducted into the Army, I will kill 100 Pakistani terrorists to avenge his death,\u201d he said.
\nHe also urged the Government to conduct another surgical strike similar to the one conducted after the Pulwama attack to teach Pakistan a lesson for using its land to harbour terrorists.Ahmed\u2019s maternal uncle, Abdullah Gani, recalled his humble background, mentioning how he lived in a kucha house before joining the police in 2011.
\n\u201cAfter securing a job, he built a pucca house for his family, but God didn\u2019t let him live in it,\u201d he said tearfully.
\nAhmed\u2019s father expressed pride in his son\u2019s martyrdom during the holy month of Ramzan and hoped that God would take care of his son.
\nHis sisters wept inconsolably, pleading, \u201cPlease return our brother.\u201d
\nHis Namaz-e-Janaza will be performed at his native village Chamba at 9 am tomorrow.
\nSimilar grief was seen at the home of martyr Jagbir Singh, son of Bhola Ram, in Mattu, Khour tehsil of Jammu district.Mourners praised Singh as a courageous soldier who always faced challenges with determination.
\nSingh, who joined the force in 1997, is survived by his wife, daughter, and son.
\nIn Kathua\u2019s Kanna Chak village, people gathered at the residence of martyr Balwinder Singh Chib, raising slogans like \u201cBalwinder Singh Chib Ji Amar Rahein\u201d and \u201cPakistan Murdabad.\u201d
\nHis villagers and grandmother described him as a kind-hearted person who respected elders and helped others in tough times.
\nHe is survived by his wife, daughter and son.
\nIn Londi Morh, Hiranagar tehsil, Kathua district, the distressed family of Selection Grade Constable Jaswant Singh didn\u2019t speak with media as they were in a shock.
\nThey also didn\u2019t accept his martyrdom until official confirmation arrived in the evening.
\nAfter post-mortems at Government Medical College Kathua and wreath-laying ceremony at DPL Kathua, all the bodies were dispatched to their residences in Kathua, Jammu, and Reasi districts by late in evening.
\nThe last rites will be performed tomorrow in the native villages of all the martyrs.<\/p>\n
