SEP 03, 2023 : Heath Streak, a former captain of Zimbabwe, went suddenly at the age of 49, according to ESPNcricinfo<\/a>, which also stated that Streak’s wife Nadine announced his passing on her social media<\/a> account. “In the early hours of this morning, Sunday, September 3rd, 2023, the greatest love of my life and the father of my beautiful children, was carried to be with the Angels from his home where he wished to spend his last days surrounded by his family and closest loved ones,” Nadine stated on her social media account, according to ESPNcricinfo. The article stated that Streak had colon and liver cancer and had long-term treatment at a facility in Johannesburg.There were numerous news stories suggesting Streak had passed away a week ago. His former teammate Henry Olonga, who initially wrote about his death, later proclaimed the news of his death untrue, leading to the retractions of the reports. In the 1990s, Streak significantly contributed to the development of Zimbabwean cricket. His country wrote some of the greatest cricketing moments in history during the zenith of his career. Between 1993 and 2005, he participated in 189 ODIs and 65 Tests for Zimbabwe. He had the second-most Test appearances for his nation. He was their leading bowler and the only Zimbabwean to take more than 100 Test and 200 ODI wickets, with 216 Test and 239 ODI dismissals. He was also the seventh-highest Test run-scorer with 1990 runs, and one of only 16 Zimbabwean hitters to surpass 2000 runs in ODIs. In an abandoned match against South Africa in Bengaluru at the 1993 Hero Cup, a five-team competition held in India, Streak earned his debut for his country at the age of 19. In Karachi, he took part in his first Test match against Pakistan. at the following game at Rawalpindi, he grabbed eight wickets. Streak represented Zimbabwe at the World Cups in 1996, 1999, and 2003. In 2000, he was named captain of Zimbabwe. The former captain of Zimbabwe was given an eight-year cricket ban after pleading guilty to five offences of violating the ICC Anti-Corruption Code in 2021.<\/p>\n
