KATHUA, JULY 27: With the aim to uphold food safety standards<\/a> and protect public health, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kathua, Ranjit Singh imposed penalties totaling Rs. 303,000 on various business establishments in the district.
\nThe fines were levied under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) 2006 against defaulters found guilty of dealing in substandard and misbranded items, as well as for failing to maintain hygienic conditions.
\nThe offenders, comprising manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, were identified through rigorous inspections and assessments conducted by the district’s food safety department. These establishments were found in violation of several provisions of the FSSA Act, ranging from the sale of substandard and misbranded food items to the lack of proper registration and maintenance of sanitary conditions.
\nThis enforcement action was part of the Kathua administration\u2019s ongoing commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring that all food products available to consumers meet the highest safety and quality standards.
\nADC emphasized the importance of compliance with food safety regulations, further said the penalty serves as a stern reminder that non-compliance will not be tolerated. He said action will continue against defaulters to ensure that every citizen has access to safe and healthy food.
\nIn addition to imposing penalties, the Kathua administration issued warning, besides urging all businesses to cooperate fully with regulatory authorities and take immediate corrective actions to avoid future penalties and maintain consumer trust.<\/p>\n
