JAMMU, Jun 1: According to officials, the days after its inauguration, Jambu Zoo here has welcomed inmates of 17 different species, including leopard, black bear<\/a>, deer and birds.After experiencing multiple setbacks since its creation in 2016, Jambu Zoo was finally opened on Sunday by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha<\/a>. It is located on the outskirts of Jammu and spans 3,200 kanals.
\nEight kanals equal one acre.
\n“Our land measures 3,200 kanals. We will be regarded as one of the major zoos in the vicinity. Amit Sharma, the wildlife warden of the Jambu Zoo, noted that we began with 17 species of animals.
\nLeopards, peacocks, deer, nilgai, wild boars, swans, and monkeys are some of these species.”We will be introducing several species in the next few days, which will put us on par with other notable zoos in the country,” Sharma added.
\nThe concept plan for Jambu Zoo was authorised by India’s Central Zoo Authority (CZA) back in 2016, but execution was delayed for a number of reasons, according to officials.When the project began in 2016\u201317 with funds from the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority, it garnered media attention. The money was cut off, though, and the Jammu and Kashmir Infrastructure Development Finance Corporation helped us out.
\n“”Unfortunately, the procedure was delayed by the Covid pandemic<\/a> by two years.. We were adamant about finishing it quickly, and we have now dedicated it to the general public,” Sharma said.A children’s park, a small body of water, and an open amusement theatre are also included in the zoo. Visitors have access to battery-powered vehicles and bicycles to make transportation simple.<\/p>\n
