No. 8644\/2023, staying the conviction of Shri Rahul Gandhi, Member of Lok Sabha representing the Wayanad Parliamentary Constituency of <a href=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/kerala-plastic-waste-segregation-workers-won-rs-10-cr-jackpot\/\">Kerala<\/a>, which was mandated by the judgement dated 23 March 2023 of the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Surat&#8230;<br \/>\nThe notification stated, &#8220;Subject to further judicial pronouncements, the disqualification of Shri Rahul Gandhi&#8230; in terms of the provisions of Article 102(1)(e) of the Constitution of India read with Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, has ceased to operate.Following his reinstatement, the Congress stated that it would like him to play a significant role in the discussion of the no-confidence resolution that is set to be discussed in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.<br \/>\nGandhi was expelled from the Lok Sabha on March 24, with effect from March 23, after a Gujarat court found him guilty of defamation and gave him a two-year prison sentence.<br \/>\nA legislator is immediately disqualified for any sentence of more than two years.<br \/>\nLast Friday, the Supreme Court issued a stay of execution, clearing the door for the reinstatement of his Lok Sabha membership.<br \/>\nHe is a member of the lower house for Wayanad.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1667\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1667\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1667\" src=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Screenshot-2023-08-07-at-12.02.44-PM-300x168.png\" alt=\"Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi\u2019s Disqualification As Lok Sabha Member Revoked\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1667\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi\u2019s Disqualification As Lok Sabha Member Revoked<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Aug 7: Days after the Supreme Court halted Rahul Gandhi&#8217;s conviction in a defamation case, his membership in the Lok Sabha was reinstated on Monday.
