The incident occurred near the Super Specialty Hospital on the intervening nights of Friday and Saturday after DySP Prashant Sharma&#8217;s Royal Enfield bike skidded off the road due to rain, resulting in severe head injuries to the officer. Eyewitnesses promptly transported him to the <a href=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/kathua-to-get-north-indias-first-govt-homeopathic-medical-college-dr-jitendra\/\">Government Medical College Jammu,<\/a> and he was later referred to a hospital in Punjab, where he succumbed to his injuries en route. DySP Sharma son of Dharmpal Sharma of Paloura, Jammu, was posted at the CBI Headquarters at Panama Chowk. <a href=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/dig-jsk-range-conducts-surprise-inspection-of-police-station-rs-pura\/\">DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua<\/a> (JSK) Range, Dr Sunil Gupta, stated that the preliminary investigation suggests no foul play. &#8220;CCTV footage and eyewitness statements indicate that the accident was a result of the officer&#8217;s motorcycle slipping from a speed-breaker during heavy rain,&#8221; he noted. It was also revealed by the eyewitnesses that Sharma was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, and no helmet was found at the scene, he further said. While the post-mortem of the deceased has been conducted, an FIR number 67\/2024 has also been registered at the Nowabad Police Station under sections 279 and 337 of the IPC to further investigate the case.
