17-APR : Search operations<\/a> are underway for the second day in the Batwara area of Srinagar, following a boat capsizing incident on the Jhelum River. The tragedy, which occurred on Tuesday morning, claimed the lives of six people and left several others missing.<\/p>\n

The boat, which was reportedly carrying 15 passengers, capsized in the Jhelum River near Ganderbal.<\/a> Among the deceased are two schoolchildren. Local reports suggest that the boat was navigating strong currents due to recent heavy rainfall when a rope used for steering snapped.<\/p>\n

Authorities have deployed rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force<\/a> (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Indian Army. Locals also participated in the initial rescue efforts.<\/p>\n
