{"id":14676,"date":"2024-04-08T10:50:57","date_gmt":"2024-04-08T10:50:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/?p=14676"},"modified":"2024-04-08T10:50:57","modified_gmt":"2024-04-08T10:50:57","slug":"shoppers-throng-markets-in-kashmir-ahead-of-eid-ul-fitr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/shoppers-throng-markets-in-kashmir-ahead-of-eid-ul-fitr\/","title":{"rendered":"Shoppers Throng Markets In Kashmir Ahead Of Eid-Ul-Fitr"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SRINAGAR, Apr 8: Markets in Kashmir were abuzz with activity on Monday as people in large numbers were out to shop for Eid-ul-Fitr festival, which will be celebrated this week to mark the culmination of the Muslim fasting month of Ramzan.<br \/>\nBakeries, confectioneries, mutton and chicken outlets, readymade garments and crockery stores witnessed a heavy rush of customers as Muslims started preparing for the festival, officials said.Some places in Kashmir even witnessed traffic snarls due to the Eid shopping rush, they said.<br \/>\nTraffic police personnel were deployed in strength in Srinagar and in other district headquarters to ease vehicle movement, the officials said.<br \/>\nAn employee at a famous bakery and confectionery chain here said there was a good footfall of customers and the sales have picked up in the last couple of days.<br \/>\n\u201cWe still have at least a couple of days before the Eid and we hope the sales will be good,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nShopping outlets dealing in clothing, including kids wear and footwear, saw brisk sales, while roadside stalls sprung up in most parts of the city to woo the buyers.<br \/>\nYawar Ahmad, a young shopper, said Eid is the time of festivities and preparations like shopping for new clothes and food items are an important part of the celebrations.<br \/>\nHowever, markets in Downtown \u2014 the interior areas of Srinagar \u2014 witnessed sluggish sales due to the ongoing construction works under the Srinagar Smart City Project.<br \/>\nThe traders there alleged that many roads have either been dug up or blocked, rendering them immotorable for the customers, which has hit their business ahead of Eid.<br \/>\nEid-ul Fitr will be celebrated either on Wednesday or Thursday depending on the sighting of the crescent on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_14677\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14677\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-14677\" src=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/Screenshot-2024-04-08-at-4.19.53-PM-300x155.png\" alt=\"Shoppers Throng Markets In Kashmir Ahead Of Eid-Ul-Fitr\" width=\"300\" height=\"155\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-14677\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Shoppers Throng Markets In Kashmir Ahead Of Eid-Ul-Fitr<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SRINAGAR, Apr 8: Markets in Kashmir were abuzz with activity on Monday as people in large numbers were out to shop for Eid-ul-Fitr festival, which will be celebrated this week to mark the culmination of the Muslim fasting month of Ramzan.
