{"id":12760,"date":"2024-03-13T08:51:39","date_gmt":"2024-03-13T08:51:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/?p=12760"},"modified":"2024-03-13T08:51:39","modified_gmt":"2024-03-13T08:51:39","slug":"total-of-22217-electoral-bonds-purchased-from-apr-1-2019-to-feb-15-2024-sbi-to-sc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/total-of-22217-electoral-bonds-purchased-from-apr-1-2019-to-feb-15-2024-sbi-to-sc\/","title":{"rendered":"Total Of 22,217 Electoral Bonds Purchased From Apr 1, 2019 To Feb 15, 2024: SBI To SC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Mar 13: The <a href=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/highway-toll-collector-ihmcl-removes-paytm-payments-bank-from-list-of-banks-authorised-to-issue-fastag\/\">State Bank of India<\/a> (SBI) on Wednesday told the Supreme Court that a total of 22,217<a href=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/sc-strikes-down-electoral-bonds-scheme-as-violative-of-rti-and-article-191a\/\"> electoral bonds<\/a> were purchased and 22,030 redeemed by political parties between April 1, 2019 and February 15 this year.<br \/>\nIn a compliance affidavit filed in the apex court, the SBI said as per the court\u2019s direction, it has made available the details of electoral bonds to the <a href=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/jk-exempted-from-ecis-new-transfer-policy\/\">Election Commission<\/a> of India before the close of business hours on March 12.<br \/>\nIt said details, including date of purchase of each electoral bonds, names of the purchaser and the denomination of the bonds purchased have been furnished.<br \/>\nThe affidavit, filed by SBI\u2019s chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara, said the bank has also furnished to the EC details like date of encashment of the electoral bonds, the names of political parties which received the contributions and the denominations of the bonds.<br \/>\nOn March 11, a five-judge Constitution bench headed by <a href=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/i-am-servant-of-law-and-constitution-cji-d-y-chandrachud\/\">Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud<\/a> had dismissed the SBI\u2019s plea seeking an extension of time and ordered it to disclose the details of electoral bonds to the EC by close of business hours on March 12.<br \/>\nThe apex court had also directed the EC to publish the details shared by the bank on its official website by 5 pm on March 15.<br \/>\nIn a landmark verdict delivered on February 15, a five-judge Constitution bench had scrapped the Centre\u2019s electoral bonds scheme that allowed anonymous political funding, calling it \u201cunconstitutional\u201d and ordered disclosure by the EC of donors, the amount donated by them and the recipients by March 13.<br \/>\nOrdering the closure of the scheme, the top court had directed the <a href=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/electoral-bonds-scheme-modi-govt-trying-to-use-sbi-to-bulldoze-supreme-court-judgment-says-kharge\/\">SBI<\/a>, the authorised financial institution under the scheme, to submit by March 6 the details of the electoral bonds purchased since April 12, 2019, till date to the EC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_12761\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12761\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12761\" src=\"https:\/\/jammubulletin.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Screenshot-2024-03-13-at-2.19.20-PM-300x232.png\" alt=\"Total Of 22,217 Electoral Bonds Purchased From Apr 1, 2019 To Feb 15, 2024: SBI To SC\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12761\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Total Of 22,217 Electoral Bonds Purchased From Apr 1, 2019 To Feb 15, 2024: SBI To SC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Mar 13: The State Bank of India (SBI) on Wednesday told the Supreme Court that a total of 22,217 electoral bonds were purchased and 22,030 redeemed by political parties between April 1, 2019 and February 15 this year.
